MSC Cruises

Daily Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Kusadasi

   Depart 18:00

   Turkey

Kuşadası owes its place on the world's cruise itineraries to one extraordinary proximity: the ancient city of Ephesus, one of the greatest metropolises of the Greco-Roman world, lies just seventeen kilometres from the port. Ephesus — with its two-kilometre marble colonnade, the Library of Celsus, and the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World) — demands at least half a day of unhurried exploration. The House of the Virgin Mary, a pilgrimage site believed to be where Mary spent her final years, adds a profound spiritual dimension. Kuşadası itself is a lively Aegean resort; the season runs April through October, with May and September offering ideal temperatures and smaller crowds.

2. Day 2

   Marmaris

   Arrive 07:00Depart 17:00

   Turkey

Marmaris is a Turkish Aegean resort town set in a pine-forested bay, offering an Ottoman castle, vibrant bazaar, and gateway access to the unspoiled Datca Peninsula and the Lycian rock tombs of Dalyan. Must-dos include feasting on meze and grilled fish, exploring the Grand Bazaar, and taking a boat trip to the sea-turtle nesting beach at Iztuzu. May through October offers warm Mediterranean weather and clear waters.

3. Day 3

   At Sea

4. Day 4

   Naples

   Arrive 11:00Depart 20:00

   Italy

Naples — Napoli — is Europe's most operatically alive city, a sun-battered baroque metropolis where Vesuvius broods on the horizon and the streets below pulse with 2,500 years of continuous human drama. The unmissable Museo Archeologico Nazionale houses the world's finest collection of artefacts from Pompeii and Herculaneum, while the Spaccanapoli, the arrow-straight artery that has bisected the city since Greek times, delivers an unfiltered encounter with Neapolitan life. A single slice of pizza Margherita from one of the centro storico's historic pizzerias is a culinary pilgrimage in itself. Visit between April and June or September and October for warmth, manageable crowds, and the city at its golden best.

5. Day 5

   Civitavecchia, Rome

   Arrive 07:00Depart 18:00

   Italy

Rome's ancient maritime gateway since the Emperor Trajan commissioned its harbour in 106 AD, Civitavecchia is the natural prologue to the Eternal City — just seventy minutes southeast by express rail. The port's Renaissance fortress, designed in part by Michelangelo, anchors a working waterfront that has welcomed travellers for millennia. Beyond Rome's unmissable monuments, consider an afternoon in the Civitavecchia thermal baths, drawing on mineral waters prized since antiquity. Spring and autumn offer the ideal balance of mild weather and manageable crowds for exploring the capital's layered history.

6. Day 6

   Genoa, Italy

   Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00

   Italy

La Superba — 'the Proud' — earned its epithet as one of the four great maritime republics of medieval Italy, and Genoa's UNESCO-listed Palazzi dei Rolli, some of the finest Renaissance and Baroque palaces in Europe, still announce the city's historic ambitions with magnificent authority. Renzo Piano's revitalised old port introduces a modern chapter alongside the medieval carruggi, the labyrinthine alleys where the city's true character breathes: Ligurian focaccia straight from the wood oven, pesto ground to ancient recipes, and farinata — chickpea flatbread — served on marble counters since the twelfth century. Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant conditions for exploring this underestimated city.

7. Day 7

   At Sea

8. Day 8

   Tarragona

   Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00

   Spain

Tarragona, a historic Catalonian port city, is renowned for its Roman ruins and vibrant local life. Must-do experiences include exploring the ancient Roman amphitheater and indulging in local dishes like calçots and fideuà. The best time to visit is during the spring and early autumn, when the weather is mild and the city is alive with cultural festivities.

9. Day 9

   At Sea

10. Day 10

    At Sea

11. Day 11

    Santa Cruz de Tenerife

    Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00

    Spain

Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the cosmopolitan capital of the Canary Islands, balances volcanic grandeur with refined urban pleasures — from the Santiago Calatrava–designed Auditorio rising beside the Atlantic to the ancient dragon tree at Icod de los Vinos and the World Heritage Teide volcano looming above the island. The city's Carnival, second in scale only to Rio de Janeiro's, erupts each February in spectacular costumes and street revelry. Local wines from the volcanic slopes, wrinkled potatoes with mojo verde, and fresh Atlantic fish define the island's culinary character. November through April offers reliably warm, sun-drenched conditions.

18. Day 18

    Salvador

    Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00

    Brazil

Salvador de Bahia, Brazil's first capital, is a cultural hub known for its Afro-Brazilian heritage and stunning colonial architecture. Must-do experiences include savoring traditional dishes such as acarajé and quindim, and exploring the lively Pelourinho district. The best season to visit is during the dry months from September to March, when the city's vibrant festivals and street life are in full swing.

19. Day 19

    At Sea

20. Day 20

    At Sea

21. Day 21

    Rio de Janeiro

    Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00

    Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is Brazil's spectacular coastal metropolis, where granite peaks plunge into Atlantic beaches and imperial history meets vibrant Afro-Brazilian culture. Visitors should not miss the panoramic ascent of Sugarloaf Mountain by cable car and a traditional Saturday feijoada feast at a local boteco. The best season for cruise visits is October through March, when southern hemisphere summer brings warm temperatures and the city pulses with pre-Carnival energy, though the shoulder months of September and April offer pleasant weather with thinner crowds.

22. Day 22

    Santos

    Arrive 08:00

    Brazil

Santos is Brazil's largest port and a historical gem, offering a blend of colonial architecture and vibrant local culture. Must-do experiences include sampling local specialties like “pastel de camarão” at the Mercado Municipal and exploring the nearby beaches of Búzios. The best season to visit is during the southern hemisphere's summer from December to February, when the weather is warm and the beaches are bustling.
