Daily Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Palermo

   Depart 17:00

   Italy

Palermo is the Mediterranean's most intoxicating crossroads of civilisations — Arab arches meet Byzantine gold mosaics beneath Norman royal chapels in the extraordinary Palatine Chapel, a monument to 12th-century multicultural brilliance that is Sicily's single greatest work of art. The Ballarò and Capo street markets, among southern Italy's most atmospheric, tumble through the ancient city in a sensory barrage of swordfish, blood oranges, jasmine, and street food improvised across centuries. Do not leave without tasting arancini and sfincione, Sicily's gloriously thick street pizza. Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) offer the ideal climate — warm enough for the sea, cool enough for extended walking.

2. Day 2

   Valletta

   Malta

Valletta, Europe's smallest capital, is a fortress city of exceptional grandeur raised from bare limestone in just fifteen years after the Knights of St. John repelled the great Ottoman siege of 1565 — its rigid Renaissance grid of sun-drenched streets concealing a density of baroque palaces, gilded oratories, and subterranean World War II shelters unrivaled anywhere in the Mediterranean. The Grand Harbour, framed by golden bastions plunging into startlingly blue water, offers one of the most dramatically photogenic arrivals in the world for arriving vessels. Spring and autumn deliver the most comfortable temperatures for exploring this UNESCO-listed gem.

3. Day 3

   At Sea

4. Day 4

   Barcelona

   Arrive 08:00Depart 19:00

   Spain

Barcelona is the city where Roman history, Gothic grandeur, and Gaudí's delirious Modernisme collide in a Mediterranean coastal capital of astonishing energy and beauty. The Sagrada Família — still under construction after 140 years — continues its audacious ascent toward completion, while the Gothic Quarter's Roman-era foundations and the Passeig de Gràcia's extraordinary concentration of Modernisme masterpieces reward days of exploration. For a complete sensory experience, lose an afternoon in the covered labyrinth of La Boqueria market before descending to the waterfront for Catalan seafood at its finest. May through June and September through October offer the most pleasant weather; the city connects directly to Paris by overnight train.

5. Day 5

   At Sea

6. Day 6

   Gibraltar

   Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00

   Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory perched at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic beneath an iconic limestone monolith steeped in over a millennium of contested history. No visit is complete without ascending the Rock to encounter the Barbary macaques and the panoramic views stretching to North Africa, followed by a plate of calentita — the territory's beloved Genoese-heritage chickpea bake — at a Main Street bakery. The mild Mediterranean climate makes Gibraltar a rewarding port call year-round, though spring and early autumn offer the clearest skies for spotting whales and dolphins in the Strait.

7. Day 7

   Casablanca

   Arrive 06:00Depart 22:00

   Morocco

Casablanca is Morocco's largest city, a striking fusion of Berber heritage, French colonial art deco architecture, and contemporary ambition anchored by the towering Hassan II Mosque on the Atlantic shore. Visitors should not miss the Central Market's freshly grilled seafood and a half-day excursion to the imperial capital Rabat or the UNESCO-listed fortress of Aït Ben Haddou. The optimal season for cruising into Casablanca is April through June or September through November, when temperatures hover between twenty and twenty-seven degrees and the Atlantic light renders the white city at its most luminous.

8. Day 8

   At Sea

9. Day 9

   Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

   Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00

   Spain

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a historic port city founded in 1478, offers a rich tapestry of culture, architecture, and culinary delights. Must-do experiences include sampling **papas arrugadas** at the Mercado de Vegueta and exploring the charming streets of Vegueta. The best time to visit is during the mild spring months when the weather is ideal for outdoor exploration.

10. Day 10

15. Day 15

    Maceio

    Arrive 09:00Depart 17:00

    Brazil

Maceió, the stunning coastal capital of Alagoas, Brazil, is a vibrant port known for its rich history, beautiful beaches, and unique culinary traditions. Must-do experiences include savoring local delicacies like sururu and exploring the Mercado do Artesanato. The best time to visit is during the dry season, from September to March, when the weather is perfect for beach hopping and cultural exploration.

16. Day 16

    Salvador

    Arrive 10:00Depart 19:00

    Brazil

Salvador de Bahia, Brazil's first capital, is a cultural hub known for its Afro-Brazilian heritage and stunning colonial architecture. Must-do experiences include savoring traditional dishes such as acarajé and quindim, and exploring the lively Pelourinho district. The best season to visit is during the dry months from September to March, when the city's vibrant festivals and street life are in full swing.

17. Day 17

    At Sea

18. Day 18

    Rio de Janeiro

    Arrive 09:00Depart 19:00

    Brazil

Rio de Janeiro is Brazil's spectacular coastal metropolis, where granite peaks plunge into Atlantic beaches and imperial history meets vibrant Afro-Brazilian culture. Visitors should not miss the panoramic ascent of Sugarloaf Mountain by cable car and a traditional Saturday feijoada feast at a local boteco. The best season for cruise visits is October through March, when southern hemisphere summer brings warm temperatures and the city pulses with pre-Carnival energy, though the shoulder months of September and April offer pleasant weather with thinner crowds.

19. Day 19

    At Sea

20. Day 20

    At Sea

21. Day 21

    Montevideo

    Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00

    Uruguay

Montevideo, Uruguay's gracious capital on the Río de la Plata, enchants with its Art Deco–lined Ciudad Vieja, the legendary Mercado del Puerto where asado and Tannat wine elevate lunch to ceremony, and a twenty-kilometer Rambla promenade perfect for unhurried afternoon strolls. Day trips to glamorous Punta del Este or UNESCO-listed Colonia del Sacramento round out the experience. The Southern Hemisphere summer — November through March — brings warm days and vibrant outdoor culture, making it the ideal season for a cruise port call.

22. Day 22

    Buenos Aires

    Arrive 07:00

    Argentina

Twice-founded and once the wealthiest city in Latin America, Buenos Aires seduces with the world-class acoustics of the Teatro Colón, the ritual theatre of a wood-fire asado at a San Telmo parrilla, and the cobblestoned milongas where tango was born and where it burns still. Cross the estuary to UNESCO-listed Colonia del Sacramento or head south toward the glaciers of Patagonia. As South America's premier cruise hub for Antarctic expeditions and round-the-continent voyages, the city is most inviting from November through March.
