Kahului

Arrive 08:00
United States

Maui has always occupied a special place in the hearts of Hawaiians. The great warrior King Kamehameha, who united the islands under his rule, chose to make Lahaina his capital and Ka'anapali was once the favorite playground of Hawaiian royalty. And no wonder - Maui boasts stunning landscapes and superb beaches. Mt. Haleakala, a dormant volcano, rises 10,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean. Once hailed as "The Valley of the Kings," Maui's Iao Valley is a tropical paradise dominated by the Needle, a volcanic monolith towering over the valley floor. Then there is Lahaina, once home to a royal court and a raucous port-of-call enjoyed by 19th-century Yankee whalers. Haleakala means "The House of the Sun." To the Hawaiians, it appeared that the sun both rose from and set in the depths of its massive crater. Today, the centerpiece of Haleakala National Park, it is one of Maui's major attractions.

Hilo

Arrive 08:00Depart 18:00
United States

One of the most popular exotic destinations in the United States where ocean and nature meet transforming the landscape into a breathtaking panorama. Hawaii is all of this and much more, beautiful wild islands led by the "Big Island", whose capital is the charming city of Hilo. It is here that you will fall in love with an old authentic culture. It is here that your MSC World Cruise will take you. Hilo is one of the most interesting and diverse cities of the archipelago, a special place for an unforgettable holiday that gives the gift of strong emotions both to those who are looking for peace and those who prefer adventurous excursions in a pristine habitat. Here the sea, sunny beaches, surf and magical local hospitality come together with the breathtaking beauty of rough trails, rain forests, secret bays, coffee plantations and small rural towns light years away from frenetic tourism. In this land, you will discover the magic of traveling with MSC Cruises. On Big Island, you can also find Volcanoes National Park, home of Kilauea, an active volcano for the past 30 years that continues to pour lava into the sea, gradually increasing and changing the island's outward appearance. There are two possible paths for visitors, one that goes around the Caldera and the other that descends towards the area of the lava flows. There is another marvel that awaits you during your vacation with MSC Cruises - Rainbow Falls, the waterfalls in Hilo that are 24 meters high and which offer visitors the spectacle of multiple rainbows in the morning mist. The gorge is filled with lush forest and the natural turquoise pool that the Wailuku River flows into is surrounded by wild ginger. The waterfalls flow over a natural lava cave, home to Hina, an ancient Hawaiian goddess.

Arriving on your MSC Cruise of Northern Europe, you will have the chance to visit Kiel, an expanding urban centre on the shores of the Baltic Sea. Kiel became the Imperial military port of Germany in 1871 and, when its canal was opened to connect the Baltic and the North Seas in 1895, the town began to control the largest artificial waterway in the world. Kiel is the ideal location for a relaxing vacation in Germany with an MSC cruise: it is simple and quiet, even during the Kieler Woche international regatta, an event not to be missed by sailing enthusiasts. The few city museums can be visited in one morning, however, if you want to get acquainted with Kiel you cannot ignore its waterways, to which the town is indissolubly bound: they can be visited by taking the Kiellinie footpath or taking a cruise along the Kieler Förde and along the canal. A spacious promenade along the pier will give you the chance to admire a variety of vessels of all sorts, amongst which the dinghies of the sailing school and, from the wet dock in front, the best view one can get of Kiel. 6 km south-west of the centre, in Molfsee, where we find the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Freilichtmuseum. This open air museum shows about seventy traditional buildings taken from the Lande and assembled in miniature villages: the colonial houses still maintain the original furniture – outstanding beds sleeping the entire family in order to keep warm in the freezing winters. While on vacation in Kiel with your MSC Cruise, an excursion will take you to Lubecca, one of the few towns on the northern coasts of Europe that has kept its Medieval glory. For more than two centuries it has been one of the wealthiest and most powerful European cities. The wealth deriving from trade is best expressed through its architecture: from the oldest Rathaus in Germany to the churches with the tallest bell towers and the merchants’ mansions.

Kauai is better known by its well-deserved nickname, the "Garden Island." Fewer people live here than on the larger neighboring islands, but Hawaiian residents and out-of-state visitors alike are attracted to its much-acclaimed beaches. Rugged emerald-colored cliffs set the backdrop for cascading waterfalls and magnificent sandy shores. As one of the most enticing spots on earth, secluded coves are found all along the island's irregular coastline and a luxuriant rainforest flourishes on the "wet" side of the island. With the island's central mountain receiving an average of 500 inches of rainfall a year, Kauai is one of the wettest spots on earth. Kauai is also the oldest Hawaiian island both geologically and historically. Island lore claims Kauai was the original home of Pele, the goddess of fire and volcanoes, before she moved southward. Welcome ashore as you explore and discover the beauty of this verdant natural wonderland.
