From historic city tours to guided hikes, exhilarating bike rides and tastings of local specialties, every tour is led by a knowledgeable local guide, is operated in a small group and is offered with our compliments.

Three Activity Levels

Some guests wish to journey further and move at a quicker pace during their excursions while others prefer more time to take photos or require frequent rests. To ensure every guest may explore at their own comfort level, we offer our tours at three distinct activity levels, ensuring even our most “gentle walkers” are not left behind – because why settle for anything less than perfect on your long-awaited vacation?

Inclusive and Accommodating

Our convenient Quietvox audio devices ensure you can hear your tour guide clearly amidst the hustle and bustle of cities and at the volume most comfortable for you. We also offer a limited number of Nordic walking sticks and sport seats for guests who need extra support or periodic breaks.

Special Interest Tours

We offer a variety of included tours specially curated with your individual passions in mind. Enjoy exploring the world through your tastebuds? Indulge in authentic Belgian waffles and chocolate in Antwerp or learn the art of French breadmaking in Libourne. Are you interested in engineering? Venture through the immense aerospace and locomotive collections at Speyer’s Technik Museum. Do you love music? Browse the antique music boxes and organs at Siegfried’s Mechanical Instrument Cabinet while cruising the Rhine.

As the first river cruise line to carry a fleet of complimentary bicycles on board, we are proud to offer included excursions for you to pedal into historic city centers and along the riverbanks. Cycle through three countries: Switzerland, France and Germany while your ship remains in Lucerne; bike to Germany’s Roman-inspired Walhalla Memorial; glide among the historic UNESCO-protected windmills of Kinderdijk and so much more.

We are proud to have been the first river cruise line to carry an entire fleet of complimentary state-of-the-art bicycles on board, so you can pedal alongside enchanting riverside pathways and in city centers on a variety of included excursions throughout Europe. Whether you feel like joining one of our exclusive guided bike tours, or you want to reserve a bike to discover a destination on your own, there are many ways for you to explore on two wheels during your river cruise. From lighter five-mile bike tours to rides that stretch over 20 miles, we offer excursions for guests at any level.

Bike Tour Guides - Your guide will be sure to stop and point out highlights along the way, providing interesting facts and history, as well as much-needed water breaks! Often, there is some built-in free time for you to explore off your bike. And best of all, to ensure no guests are left behind, there is typically a guide both at the front and back of the tour group, so whatever pace you pedal, you will have peace of mind you will be taken care of and find your way back to the ship. 

Child-sized Bikes - There are a limited number of child-size bicycles available on board as well. This enables you to enjoy family-friendly active excursions in many destinations along the rivers.

Europe: Comfortable, layered clothing adaptable to changing weather conditions is always advisable for daytime excursions. For the evening, “Casually elegant” attire is recommended and you may want to pack something a little dressier for the Captain’s night/Farewell Dinner – similar to how one would dress to dine at a 5-star restaurant. Comfortable shoes are recommended for excursions and workout clothing if you plan to take part in any wellness activities, active tours or use the onboard gym. Depending on the time of year, clothing that can be layered is highly recommended.

Vietnam & Cambodia: It is always advisable to travel light in Southeast Asia. For the hot and humid weather, lightweight easy-care clothing that includes some long-sleeved items for protection from mosquitoes and sun, raingear, and sturdy and comfortable walking shoes that you won’t mind getting wet or muddy. We also recommend you pack a few casually elegant items to wear at the Welcome and Farewell dinners.

Africa Cruise & Land Safari: When traveling through Africa, it is always advisable to travel light as some itineraries baggage size and weight are strictly limited. On Safari: casual, easy-care clothing that includes some long-sleeved items for protection from mosquitoes and sun. Attire during Winter (April - September): it is wise to bring some warm clothes for chilly early morning and late night temperatures. Dressing in layers is also recommended, as temperatures rise quickly during the day.

Egypt: Packing light for your Nile River cruise will be no problem as a majority of what you pack into your suitcase will be lightweight clothing items. Breathable clothes will be your answer to most of your outfits. We suggest cotton or linen tee shirts as well as short and long sleeves.

As Egypt, Jordan and UAE are primarily Muslim countries, you should plan to dress modestly to respect the local traditions of the mosques and temples you will be visiting. A lightweight pashmina scarf, veil or shawl is ideal for additional sun protection and as women will need to cover their shoulders and arms. Men can opt for collared shirts and lightweight pants.

Europe: High-speed Internet service is available free of charge as part of the in-stateroom "Entertainment-On-Demand." Additionally, AmaWaterways offers complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the ship.

Vietnam & Cambodia: Free Internet and Wi-Fi is available in the lounge with computer stations.

Africa Cruise & Land Safari: Free Wi-Fi is available but may be limited and sporadic during certain times of the day due to the ships isolated location.

Egypt: Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the ship. Please note that at times while the ship is cruising in an isolated region of the Nile River, access may be sporadic

Europe: There are no medical facilities on board. However medical services can easily be called from shore if required.

Vietnam & Cambodia: We do not employ doctors or nurses on board the ships. In the event medical assistance is needed, appropriate medical facilities will be contacted. Note that response time can vary.

Africa: We do not employ doctors or nurses on board the Zambezi Queen. In the event medical assistance is needed, appropriate medical facilities will be contacted. Note that response time can vary.

Ekologicky šetrný design lodí

Naše flotila říčních lodí byla pečlivě navržena s ohledem na ekologii. Patří sem energeticky úsporné LED osvětlení, speciální izolační okna, která snižují potřebu energie na vytápění a chlazení, elektrické zásuvky umožňující připojení k přístavnímu napájení místo provozu generátorů, solární ohřevy, úpravny vody poskytující mikrofiltraci a recyklaci veškeré vody používané na palubě. Loď AmaMagna disponuje inovativní konfigurací deseti motorů navrženou ke snížení spotřeby paliva a na balkonech všech kajut jsou instalovány solární panely. Navíc loď Zambezi Queen využívá vodní tryskový pohon, který chrání dno řeky Chobe, vodu šetřící kohoutky a sprchy, biologicky rozložitelné detergenty a mýdla a pětistupňovou úpravnu vody.

Zelenější zážitek na palubě

Pro snížení celkové spotřeby plastů používáme papírová brčka (na vyžádání), znovu plnitelné skleněné lahve na vodu ve všech kajutách a na výlety v rámci flotily (kde je to možné) rozdáváme recyklovatelné obaly na vodu typu tetra pak. Omezili jsme zbytečné plýtvání jídlem z velkých bufetů tím, že na naší evropské flotile podáváme obědy formou à la carte. Pro naše osobní audio zařízení používaná na výletech jsme hrdí na partnerství s Quietvox, který využívá biologicky rozložitelné obaly z rýžového papíru a dobíjecí baterie. Navíc naše zavazadlové štítky a praktické cestovní peněženky jsou vyrobeny z recyklovaného plastu z lahví a nyní jsou hostům doručovány přímo do kajut na našich lodích v Evropě, čímž snižujeme naši uhlíkovou stopu. Používání inovativní aplikace myAmaCruise a elektronických cestovních dokumentů rovněž výrazně snížilo spotřebu papíru před plavbou i na palubě.
